Yahoo strikes more mobile internet search deals in Asia

Sunnyvale-based Yahoo said yesterday it had signed contracts with no fewer than nine Asian mobile operators allowing them to have access to its popular internet search engine. The agreements are with Indian firms Aircel, BPL Mobile Communications, and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL); Indonesian operators PT Excelcomindo and PT Hutchison CP Telecom Indonesia, and PT Indonesian Satellite Corp; DiGi.com of Malaysia; StarHub in Singapore; and PCCW in Hong Kong. Yahoo has now successfully concluded mobile internet partnerships with 16 Asian companies. Under the deals, it will share advertising revenues with its local partners.
