Vodafone Ireland yesterday announced it has purchased domestic fixed line and broadband provider Perlico Communications for a figure thought to be in the region of EUR80 million (USD116.8 million). Vodafone Ireland will pay about EUR30 million in cash while the remainder will be paid as part of an ‘earn-out’ clause over a number of years. The deal will enable Vodafone to offer its customers a triple-play offering of mobile, fixed line and broadband communications service in the Republic. Perlico has around 62,500 customers, of which 25,000 are broadband subscribers. It will become a subsidiary of Vodafone but will retain the Perlico brand and will continue to offer the same services, aimed at providing competitive broadband and voice prices.
