Brazilian telecoms company CTBC says it had 176,000 broadband subscribers at the end of September 2007, up 72.7% compared to end-3Q06, writes BNamericas citing Computerworld Brasil as saying. CTBC ended the third quarter with 659,000 main lines in services, up 1.7% year-on-year and attributed its strong broadband expansion to a marketing campaign offering converged services. In 3Q07 the operator reported net income of BRL6.8 million (USD3.8 million), reversing a net loss of BRL5.7 million in the corresponding period of 2006. The company says it plans to migrate its existing infrastructure to a fully IP platform over the next five years.
CTBC is active in the states of Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Sao Paulo, Goias, Parana and Rio de Janeiro, and Distrito Federal.
