Redline Communications has announced that its RedMAX range of WiMAX network equipment has been chosen by Comium Data Lebanon for its planned nationwide WiMAX wireless broadband rollout in Lebanon. Comium Data plans to launch voice, video and broadband internet/data services over the new network, after selecting RedMAX technology to replace its existing line-of-sight fixed wireless access legacy infrastructure. The Lebanese group aims to achieve nationwide WiMAX coverage by mid-2008, connecting end-users in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, Tripoli, Keserwan and Nabatiye at distances of up to 17 km from each base station at data speeds of up to 2Mbps. The Comium Group also owns Lebanese ISP Cable One, which is licensed to offer DSL broadband services nationwide, as well as several GSM mobile operators in West Africa.
