Belgacom 9M results: sales down, profit up

9 Nov 2007

Belgacom has reported a year-on-year decline in sales for the first nine months of 2007, with revenues down 0.3% to EUR4.55 billion (USD6.67 billion). However the Brussels-based firm posted a 13% rise in net profit to EUR796 million, from EUR702 million in 2006, whilst EBITDA came in at EUR1.61 billion, down from EUR1.65 billion. The group’s fixed line division reported a 0.5% fall in sales, while its mobile arm saw revenues dip by 3.8% to EUR1.55 billion, principally as a result of the impact of mobile termination rate cuts and wholesale roaming agreements. The group’s wireless arm, Proximus added 182,498 new customers in the first nine months of the year to take its total base to 4.49 million.
