8 Nov 2007

Telekom Malaysia has announced that its net profit for the third quarter to 30 September 2007 grew 37.5% from a year earlier, driven by the better performance of its domestic fixed line and wireless operations, and lower tax charges. TM posted third-quarter net profit of MYR658.52 million (USD197.8 million) against MYR478.94 million a year earlier. Revenue rose to MYR4.61 billion from MYR4.28 billion. Net profit in the nine months rose to MYR1.96 billion from MYR1.48 billion, boosted by a gain of MYR234.8 million from the disposal of a 4.6% stake in Sri Lanka’s Dialog Telekom. Revenue was MYR13.11 billion in the first nine months of the year compared to MYR11.99 billion a year ago.
