Videotron reports 3Q growth

Quebec-based cableco Videotron has reported its operational results for the third quarter ended 30 September 2007. 574,000 households and businesses were subscribed to Videotron’s cable telephone service at the end of the period, after 70,100 Quebecers signed up for the service between July and September, compared with 60,900 in the same quarter of 2006. Since the beginning of 2007, an average of 35% of weekly sales of Videotron’s cable telephone service have been to customers who did not previously subscribe to any Videotron product. Approximately 67.5% of new customers took a triple-play package of telephony, television and internet. Videotron’s internet access products also posted strong growth. The subscriber increase of 43,900 registered in the third quarter of 2006 was exceeded in 3Q07 with the addition of 45,100 net new customers during the quarter, bringing the total number of customers to 899,000. As of end-September Videotron had a CATV viewer base of 1.616 million, and it had also activated 39,000 mobile handsets on its MVNO service, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 8,000.
