7 Nov 2007

The first section of a city-wide municipal Wi-Fi network has been switched on in the Athens suburb of Argyroupolis. The network has been deployed by Greek network integrator Simple Waves Innovations and networking and security company Digital Sima, using Tropos Networks’ MetroMesh wireless mesh system. The network, the first of its type in Greece, aims to provide affordable broadband internet access services, with other applications planned for the future, including voice and public services.
