Casio to launch W-CDMA handsets in Japan

5 Nov 2007

Casio and Japan Map Casio Computer have jointly announced plans to launch W-CDMA mobile phones in Japan. Casio currently develops CDMA-based devices and has partnership agreements in place with fellow Japanese firm KDDI Corp, US-based carrier Verizon Wireless and South Korea’s LG Telecom, to supply the handsets. The handset maker is now looking to add W-CDMA phones sometime between October 2008 and March 2009 in an effort to increase its potential customer base. It could look to team up with NTT DoCoMo and/or Softbank Mobile, both of which use the technology.
