1 Nov 2007

US-based Verizon Communications has received Letters of Intent from India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for national and international long-distance licences, which will allow it to begin offering communication services to India-based multinational companies. Once in receipt of the licences Verizon Business India, a 74/26 joint venture with Leo Communications (part of Indian conglomerate Videocon), will offer a full range of services including international private leased circuits, MPLS and IP services. The IP and data network capabilities are planned for launch in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad in 2008.
