Tele2 Croatia has signed a roaming agreement giving it nationwide access to T-Mobile Croatia’s GSM/W-CDMA network. Tele2, the country’s youngest cellco, has a national roaming agreement with Telekom Austria-owned VIPnet which expires on 31 May 2008. The new agreement with T-Mobile, which includes seamless handover, enables Tele2 to offer nationwide services whilst continuing to roll out its own infrastructure. In March 2006 it added to a GSM infrastructure contract with Ericsson with an order for W-CDMA equipment, and commercial 3G services were originally scheduled to be launched by mid-2006. However, in early 2007 the company reported that its UMTS network build-out was suffering delays.
