Mexico’s second largest fixed line operator by lines in service, Axtel, has reported net profit of MXN209 million (USD19.3 million) for the third quarter of 2007, up 83% year-on-year. Revenue almost doubled to MXN3 billion as lines in service grew 20% to 879,000. Internet subscribers grew by 75% to 107,000. According to BNamericas, the company also announced on 24 October the launches of operations in Ciudad Victoria and Reynosa, in Tamaulipas state, bringing the company’s coverage to 26 cities. Axtel will invest USD25 million in Reynosa and USD20 million in Ciudad Victoria over the next five years.
