25 Oct 2007

Etihad Etisalat (Mobily), Saudi Arabia’s second mobile operator, has announced that it achieved a 43.3% year-on-year rise in third-quarter net profit, to USD82.9 million. Mobily, which already provides wireless internet and data services, also plans to launch new broadband services in the second half of 2008, a senior official added. Mobily and former monopoly Saudi Telecom Company (STC) will face new competition next year when Kuwait’s Zain (formerly MTC) launches a third mobile network in the country, in partnership with local investors.
