Safaricom sale to go ahead in December

22 Oct 2007

According to AllAfrica.com, the initial sale of Safaricom shares to the public could commence in December. There had been fears that it could be postponed to next year, to avoid clashing with the country’s General Election, but last Friday the State confirmed that it is aiming for a December IPO. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Safaricom is Kenya’s dominant cellco, claiming a 74.3% subscriber market share at the end of June 2007.
