German cellco E-Plus Mobilfunk has announced that it has extended its network expansion, maintenance and operation agreement with French-US vendor Alcatel-Lucent. The contract was initially for three years and began on 1 March 2007. It will now run until March 2012 . ‘We are very satisfied with the performance of Alcatel-Lucent during the first months. Thanks to their well-coordinated team and experience with other international outsourcing projects, the transition phase went smoothly and was managed professionally,’ explained Elmar Grasser, Chief Technical Officer of E-Plus. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, E-Plus was the third-placed cellco at the end of June 2007, with over 13.5 million subscribers and a 15% market share.
