CDMA players eye GSM

22 Oct 2007

CDMA network operator Tata Tele Services Ltd (TTSL) is expected to apply for a concession to offer GSM-based services. The move comes just days after Reliance Communications (RCom), Shyam Telelink and HFCL, three fellow CDMA network operators, were given the nod to begin offering GSM services under their Unified Access Service (UAS) licences. Reliance, which operates CDMA networks in all 23 Indian circles, is permitted to offer GSM services across the whole of the country, while Shyam Telelink and HFCL will roll out GSM networks in Rajasthan and Punjab, respectively.
