Alltel reveals strong third quarter

Alltel Corporation has announced that third quarter net income from current business stood at USD279 million, a 21% increase year-on-year. Revenues were also up, coming in at USD2.3 billion against USD2.0 billion in the corresponding period last year. Total net additions during the quarter were 205,000, taking the total subscriber base to 12.5 million. Data ARPU growth of 70% year-on-year helped lift total ARPU to USD56. The company added that it was awaiting approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for its USD24.7 billion acquisition by TPG Capital and GS Capital Partners, a subsidiary of Goldman Sachs.
