Lithuanian incumbent telco TEO LT has completed the preliminary installation of a next-generation network (NGN). The fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure will allow the operator to provide VoIP telephony, digital TV and broadband access at speeds of up to 1Gbps. The deployment began on 1 June 2007 and services will be brought to over 2,000 apartment blocks in Vilnius by the end of the year, according to the telco. TEO has earmarked LTL100 million (USD38.9 million) over three years for the project.
