Summa plans Moscow WiMAX trial

The Russian start-up telco Summa Telecom is to install a pilot WiMAX wireless broadband network in Moscow and has selected three vendors as partners in the trial, Vedemosti reports. The operator will choose between Alcatel-Lucent, Nortel and Huawei as its main equipment provider. Summa had previously revealed plans to spend up to USD1 billion on a WiMAX deployment by 2010, using its spectrum licences in the 2.5GHz-2.7GHz band.
