The Media & Broadcast unit of T-Systems, the German incumbent Deutsche Telekom’s business services subsidiary, has obtained the frequencies necessary for the technical operation of broadcast services using the digital video broadcast-handheld (DVB-H) standard, the German Federal Networks Agency (BNetzA) has revealed. ‘T-Systems Media & Broadcast was able to show it (can) fulfil the legal and technical guidelines of the tender requirements,’ said the regulator in a statement. The network for portable and mobile broadcast applications is scheduled to be launched in spring 2008 in Hanover and is planned to cover 90% of Germany’s population by 2015, the statement said.
