No surprises as existing operators pre-qualify for frequency sale

Venezuela’s three national cellcos Movilnet, Movistar and Digitel have pre-qualified for the upcoming mobile spectrum auction planned by telecoms regulator Conatel, reports BNamericas. Frequency blocks in the 1710MHz-1770MHz, 1805MHz-1910MHz, 1930MHz-1990MHz and 2110MHz-2170MHz bands will be up for grabs to meet growing demand for mobile telephony in the country. Concessions will be valid from November onwards for 15 years, and the initial bidding price is USD120 million per licence. Conatel expects to announce the winners on 22 October.
