DT signs contract with Ericsson for VDSL2 deployment

Deutsche Telekom (DT) has inked a deal with Ericsson for the deployment of VDSL2 technology in a further twelve German cities. The platform – which will be managed by Ericsson’s ServiceOn Access – will provide subscribers with internet access at speeds of up to 50Mbps. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, DT launched a VDSL pilot in September 2005 and is spending EUR3 billion to deploy the technology in 50 cities by the end of 2007.
