Alcatel-Lucent wins contracts with France’s SFR and neuf Cegetel, and NTT in Japan

9 Oct 2007

Paris-based equipment manufacturer Alcatel-Lucent says it has won separate supply contracts with Vivendi-backed French telcos SFR and neuf Cegetel, and NTT Communications, a unit of Japan’s NTT DoCoMo. No financial details have been disclosed, but Alcatel-Lucent will supply SFR with a core IP/MPLS network to allow the operator to migrate voice and data traffic onto a next generation network (NGN). In the second deal, neuf Cegetel will take delivery of the vendor’s Gigabit Passive Optical Networking solution (GPON) for very high speed services, to support neuf Cegetel’s planned deployment of a 100% fibre-optic access network.

In Japan, Alcatel-Lucent will supply NTT Communications with IP service routers, the second time it has been selected by NTT to deploy its 7750 IP/MPLS Service Routers within the group.
