France Telecom and VNPT sign cooperation agreement

4 Oct 2007

Incumbent telcos France Telecom (FT) and Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT) have inked a cooperation deal on the occasion of the visit to France by Vietnam’s prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung. The agreement, signed by the CEOs of the two companies, aims to develop programmes between them. France Telecom has made a commitment to welcome Vietnamese PhD students from the Post and Telecom Institute of Technology (PTIT), part of VNPT, as trainees from early next year, with their studies to be carried out, through the FT-owned Orange Labs network of 16 research centres around the world. The two firms have also announced the launch of the PTIT Orange Academy, a joint venture which will set up a high-level professional telecoms training centre, specialising in advanced mobile technologies and information management.
