Far EasTone WiMAX launch at least a year away

1 Oct 2007

The Taiwanese cellular operator Far EasTone says it will not be launching WiMAX wireless broadband services until late 2008/early 2009. Far EasTone was the only one of the country’s larger telcos to win a WiMAX operating concession earlier this year, acquiring a licence covering the south of Taiwan. It plans to invest TWD10 billion (USD300 million) on its new network.
