DoCoMo to work with Fujitsu on 900Mbps base station test

1 Oct 2007

Japan’s leading mobile operator by subscribers, NTT DoCoMo, has teamed up with Fujitsu Laboratories to jointly develop a prototype wireless base station capable of achieving maximum downlink transmission speeds of 900Mbps. The new technology uses four multiple-input, multiple-output antennas (4×4 MIMO) for so-called ‘Super 3G’ base station transmission and mobile station reception, as well as utilising Fujitsu’s short-delay, high speed error correction decoding technology. The new base station equipment is being designed to supersede DoCoMo’s existing 3G network, FOMA.
