BNamericas, quoting local newspaper El Cronista, reports that Argentine cableco Telecentro plans to invest approximately ARS70 million (USD22 million) in 2008, similar to that expected this year. Telecentro is in the process of digitalising its network, and plans to launch pay-per-view services and residential voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) telephony early next year. The company currently has 200,000 cable TV subscribers and 70,000 broadband clients. Earlier this month, telecoms ministry SeCom granted Telecentro area code numbering for its planned launch of telephony services, which up to now it has provided through public phone centres, of which it has over 1,000 nationwide.
