TEO installs Wi-Fi hotspots in banks

27 Sep 2007

Lithuanian incumbent telco TEO has installed wireless internet access points at a number of Parex Bankas branches throughout Lithuania. The ‘Zebra’ hotspots, which enable transmission of data at up to 5Mbps, are located at the bank’s premises in the cities of Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Panevezys, Siauliai, Marijampole and Alytus. TEO has now deployed more than 2,000 hotspots across the country, and expects to increase this ten-fold over the next two years. TEO internet customers can pay LTL9.99 (USD4.09) a month to access the hotspots, while non-subscribers are charged LTL50 a month. There is also a PAYG option that costs LTL5 per hour.
