Swiss regulator seeks spectrum consultation

According to a statement posted on its website, the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) has launched a public consultation regarding the allocation of unused 3G spectrum in Switzerland. 30MHz in the UMTS core band became available after it 3G Mobile was ordered to return it last October. Also, 190MHz in the 2.5GHz UMTS extension band will become available after 1 January 2008. The consultation period ends on 2 November 2007, while an invitation to tender – initially for the UMTS core spectrum only – may be issued some time during 2008.
