Norway announces frequency auction

20 Sep 2007

The Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority (NPT) has invited operators to register to participate in an auction for spectrum in the frequency bands 2500MHz-2690MHz and 2010MHz-2025MHz. The deadline for registration is 10 October 2007 and the auction will start on 5 November. The technology and service-neutral 15-year concessions (valid until 31 December 2022) will allow the use of spectrum for terrestrial radio services throughout Norway, except for Svalbard, Jan Mayen and Norwegian dependencies. The licences will be tradeable by sale or lease, although such transactions will have to be approved by the NPT.
