EarthLink loses Pasadena contract

19 Sep 2007

The US internet service provider EarthLink has lost another municipal Wi-Fi contract, as the city of Pasadena reacts to EarthLink’s announcement at the end of last month that it is downsizing and rethinking its muni Wi-Fi strategy. The city says it is looking at alternative plans with EarthLink and is also studying offers from other operators. EarthLink announced on 30 August that it is to axe 900 staff and will not proceed with any citywide Wi-Fi network which has not already begun deployment. This included a major network which was being planned for San Francisco.
