Irish former monopoly eircom is rumoured to be looking to sell its masts division to Threefold Project Management for EUR160 million (USD222 million), papers say. Threefold, which provides managed network infrastructure services to companies such as eircom, ntl Ireland, O2 and Meteor Mobile, is said to be one of three firms short-listed by eircom’s owners Babcock & Brown. It appears it has trumped offers from Sean Melly’s Powerscourt Investments, and UK-based mobile group Arqiva, which is owned by a consortium led by Australian investment company Macquarie. eircom has declined to comment on the rumours.
