DoCoMo closer to launch of 200Mbps mobile phone

Japan’s leading mobile operator by subscribers, NTT DoCoMo, is edging ever closer to the launch of a new ‘Super 3G’ phone capable of supporting connection speeds of up to 200Mbps. The Japanese firm is pioneering a new chip for launch in the near future, capable of handling such a task, but small enough to fit in a phone. The so-called Super 3G technology uses multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology to understand multiplexed orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) data signals and uses four antennas working together.
