Telekom Slovenije has received a EUR21.5 million (USD29.7 million) compensation claim from alternative telco Tus Telekom, according to the Slovene Press Agency. Tus alleges that the state-controlled telco abused its market position and violated industry legislation, specifically favouring its own ISP Si.OL over Tus from 2001 onwards. Telekom Slovenije said that it is studying the claim and will respond to it by a 1 October deadline. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Telekom is facing several anti-trust claims by emerging telcos, the biggest being a EUR130 million (USD178 million) damages claim by triple-play operator T-2. In September 2006 the incumbent operator was fined EUR60,000 by regulator the Post and Electronic Communications Agency (APEK) for ‘monopolistic behaviour’.
