Venezuela’s telecoms regulator Conatel has received technical, economic and legal documentation from the country’s three main mobile operators, Movilnet, Movistar and Digitel, to participate in an auction for new wireless spectrum, reports BNamericas. Frequency allocations will be made available in the 1710MHz-1770MHz, 1805MHz-1910MHz, 1930MHz-1990MHz and 2110MHz-2170MHz bands. Conatel said that prequalified operators will be announced on 8 October and winners on 22 October, with services expected to be launched in November. The initial bidding price for a 15-year concession is USD120 million; key bid criteria include quality of service, coverage, rollout schedule and the value of the bid.
