Apple, the manufacturer of the iPhone, says it is considering bidding in the US government’s planned 700MHz wireless spectrum auction next year. The minimum bid for the spectrum auction has been set at USD4.6 billion, with a number of wireless players and new entrants such as Google already having signalled an interest in bidding. Apple recently sold its one millionth iPhone, the device which combines its iPod portable media player with a traditional cellphone handset.
