Redline makes a beeline for Gabon

6 Sep 2007

US-based wireless broadband technology vendor Redline Communications has been selected by network provider and integrator IBN Corporate to provide infrastructure for the expansion of WiMAX services in Gabon. According to a company statement, Redline’s RedMAX products will allow IBN Corporate to expand its existing broadband wireless access network in Libreville, introduce new WiMAX devices, and provide the open architecture required to integrate WiMAX with other communications technologies. Financial terms of the deal were not provided. IBN Corporate launched WiMAX services for businesses and residents in Libreville in late April, and plans to extend its network to Port-Gentil and Franceville in October 2007 and January 2008 respectively. Founded in June 2003, IBN (International Business News) Corporate is based in Gabon, and claims to have been the first company in central Africa to establish a communications network for the real time distribution of economic and financial data.
