Etisalat establishes PoP in far east

6 Sep 2007

Middle East bandwidth provider Emirates Internet Exchange (EMIX), part of UAE incumbent telco Etisalat, has established its first point of presence (PoP) in Asia. The PoP in Singapore is the firm’s sixth worldwide and takes the EMIX backbone bandwidth to over 13Gbps. EMIX has other PoPs in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, New York, London and Amsterdam, and plans to establish additional PoPs in Europe and USA to cater to the rising demand for internet bandwidth. It currently has 83 fully redundant STM-1 links on various transnational cables, linking it with various top-tier IP access providers around the world.
