Tiscali rolls out IPTV nationwide

4 Sep 2007

Tiscali, the Italian-owned ISP which last year acquired the operations of Video Networks’ HomeChoice, has announced that it will roll out its 80-channel IPTV service across the UK, with the aim of reaching ten million households by the end of the year. As it stands the service is available to around five million British households, of which around 50,000 are subscribed, mostly in the former HomeChoice heartlands of North and West London and the Hertfordshire town of Stevenage.

Tiscali TV will initially be available in central, north, and northwest England. Areas in the northeast and Scotland will go live in October. The basic triple play service of TV, telephony and broadband internet access is available from GBP19.99 (USD40) per month; packages that include Sky’s basic channels, premium movie and sports channels are also available. An on-demand service features around 1,000 movie titles.
