Cable & Wireless (C&W) yesterday announced that it is upgrading the speed of its DSL broadband internet access services in markets throughout the Caribbean. Existing customers can expect to enjoy services up to twice as fast, with the lowest-end packages offering download speeds of up to 1MB for an unchanged price of around USD69 per month. C&W now offers three categories of consumer broadband plans; Mega, Mega Plus and Mega Max; and three plans for SMEs; Premier, Premier Plus and Premier Max. The Premier packages, which replace the existing Business DSL, offer download speeds of up to 4Mbps. In addition, the operator is adopting the Cable & Wireless Broadband brand for all broadband services across the region. The shift from the existing CaribSurf name to Cable & Wireless Broadband will take place over the next few months. C&W has recently completed a three-year, USD140 million investment in next generation network (NGN) upgrades across its Americas & Caribbean divisional operations.
