VDC establishes new links

3 Sep 2007

ISP Vietnam Data Communications (VDC), which claims over half of Vietnam’s total broadband subscriber base, has established four new connections with Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel), Southeast Asia’s largest telecoms operator by revenues. With the new links, VDC, a subsidiary of incumbent telco Vietnam Post and Telecommunications (VNPT), has initially increased its international bandwidth from 5.6Gbps to 6.2Gbps, with plans to double it to 12.2Gbps by the year-end. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, VDC had 460,000 broadband customers at the end of June 2007.
