Kordia to enter municipal Wi-Fi market

3 Sep 2007

New Zealand state-owned telecoms network operator Kordia has announced plans to set up a number of metropolitan Wi-Fi zones which will take it further into competition with private telcos. Kordia, which manages the national broadcasting network, has offered telecoms networking solutions for some time. Its latest venture will see it setting up wireless LAN ‘hotzones’ in Auckland and Taupo, offering wireless internet services to laptop and PDA users. The Auckland network is being set up in partnership with Auckland City Council.
