Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ) has launched a new web hosting solution, the IIJ Secure Web Platform it was reported yesterday. The internet access and network solutions provider claims the new platform will provide ‘the reliability, safety, and flexibility needed for corporate website construction’ while allowing users to pick web hosting services and related products on a tailor made basis.
According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, IIJ was incorporated in Japan as a joint stock corporation in December 1992 and began operations in July 1993, making it one of the first commercial providers in Japan to offer internet connectivity services. In February 1994 it acquired a Type II Telecommunications licence, enabling it to operate its own international backbone networks. It became a public company in August 1999 and is listed on Nasdaq. The company is 31.6% owned by NTT Group.
