Huawei constructs IP network for QSC

30 Aug 2007

Chinese vendor Huawei has announced the installation of its multi-service control gateways (MSCG) ME60, in the all-IP network of German telco QS Communications (QSC). The ME60 will help QSC deploy services more quickly and reliably and provides it with a unified operation platform for services and applications, reducing the capital and operational expenditure of its broadband network. QSC operates a nationwide DSL network and offers voice and data services to a mainly corporate customer base, as well as offering wholesale services to other telcos and ISPs. In 2006 QSC entered a joint venture with reseller Tele2 Germany to operate a shared national next generation network called Plusnet, initially based on QSC’s own DSL network, but with additional investment from Tele2 of EUR50 million (USD68 million) to expand the network reach to 50% of the population by the end of 2007. The enterprise was set up under a cooperation contract that runs until 2012.
