BrT plans September launch for IPTV

29 Aug 2007

Brazil’s third largest fixed line operator by subscribers Brasil Telecom (BrT) has announced plans to launch commercial IPTV services in September. The company’s president Ricardo Knoepfelmacher is quoted as saying that BrT initially plans to offer two packages: a fixed monthly package with up to 500 programmes and a pay-per-view option. Bnamericas says the IPTV rollout will most likely take place in the capital Brasilia and other major cities by the end of 2007. BrT has been running pilot trials of the new service in 300 homes in Brasilia, ahead of the full-blown launch.
