FT faces EUR60m fine for abusing position in ADSL sector

28 Aug 2007

AFX News, citing Agence France-Presse, reports that French incumbent France Telecom (FT) is facing a fine of up to EUR60 million (USD81.9 million) from the competition authorities for allegedly abusing its dominant position in the domestic ADSL market. It is understood the competition authorities will meet next month to make a ruling on FT’s behaviour. The former monopoly would most likely receive a lower fine if it opts not to challenge the grievance proceedings and agrees to change its practices in the future.
