Personal launches 3G network in Cordoba

Personal, the mobile unit of incumbent telco Telecom Argentina, has launched 3G services in the city of Cordoba, according to BNamericas, quoting a company statement. In May this year the company launched 3G services in a limited area in Buenos Aires and plans this year to extend coverage to the north of the city and launch a similar network in the city of Rosario. The company expects to invest ARS500 million (USD158 million) in 3G networks up to 2009, according to the statement. Telecom’s CEO Carlos Felices recently said the company plans to invest USD25 million on UMTS services in 2007 alone.
