Iusacell outlines expansion plans

24 Aug 2007

Mexico’s third largest cellco by subscribers plans to invest USD108 million to the middle of next year to expand the coverage and capacity of its network. CEO Gustavo Guzman said that the company will finance its expansion – including an increase in the number of base stations from 1,860 to 3,060 – with its own resources, without having to tap capital markets. Guzman went on to reveal that 70% of Iuscall’s CDMA network will be upgraded to 1xEV-DO by November 2007.
