Orange seeks arbitration on Iliad fibre dispute

22 Aug 2007

FT’s Orange France unit has called on the country’s telecoms watchdog Arcep to arbitrate in its dispute with Iliad’s ISP Free concerning accusations that it is restricting access to its fibre-optic network conduits. Telecompaper cites 01net as saying that Orange France’s Louis-Pierre Wenes is surprised at the intensity of Free’s accusations, but says it is still intent of connecting 150,000 users to the network by the end of 2008. Arcep meanwhile, is conducting a public consultation on the proposed rules for deploying FTTx, while FT has said it is happy to share both access and costs for the infrastructure with its rivals.
