Government to waive NT mobile roaming charges

22 Aug 2007

Nepal’s government has decided to scrap roaming charges on Nepal Telecom’s (NT’s) mobile network, effective 18 September. At yesterday’s cabinet meeting it was agreed to do away with roaming charges of all types of wireless service provided by the company, putting it on a level playing field with privately owned Mero Mobile, which has been providing free national roaming for some time. The Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) will implement the decision on the recommendation of the Environment, Communication and Technology Committee.
